ART-1590 Watercolor I


Credits 3
An introductory course in basic watercolor painting. Emphasis is on techniques and traditional watercolor materials used by today’s watercolorists. Includes composition, color concepts and history of watercolor painting. Students will attend lecture and demonstration classes and create their own paintings. The course is designed for beginners with little or no experience in painting.
6 studio hours.
Note: Proficiency in drawing is beneficial but not critical to successful completion of this course.

Course Outcomes
  1. Utilize the basic vocabulary of watercolor painting.
  2. Demonstrate basic skills in the use of watercolor painting.
  3. Create original watercolor paintings that demonstrate the elements of art and principles of design.
  4. Analyze a watercolor painting’s subject, form, technique, and content.
