ACC-2120 Accounting Information Systems


Credits 3
This course examines accounting information systems, both manual and computerized. The course includes information on current technologies in information systems including hardware, software, networks, databases, and data communications. Internal controls and securitysystems are examined.
 
Prerequisite(s): ACC-2002 .
Three class hours with open lab.
Course Outcomes
  1. Develop database queries to provide relevant information regarding the business operations and performance.

  2. Prepare data flow diagrams to understand, evaluate, and document information systems.

  3. Design business processes with appropriate documentation tools.

  4. Design well-structured databases to enable business processes.

  5. Design internal controls systems to mitigate risks.

  6. Evaluate internal control in information systems.

  7. Apply systems design procedures in a business environment.
