ART-2620 Digital Illustration

Provides a survey of computer-based methods of producing artwork used commercially. This includes extensive use of object-oriented and image processing software packages. Projects may include package design, editorial support illustration, logo/icon design, creative Web pages, statistical charts and graphs, and technical illustration. 
Prerequisite(s): ART-1570 .
6 studio hours.

Course Outcomes
  1. Identify historical examples of illustration, as well as cultural and technological influences on illustration.
  2. Apply advanced tools within Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to original compositions.
  3. Apply ethical standards of copyright to illustrations.
  4. Demonstrate the stages of developing a visual solution.
  5. Create original illustrations for professional application using a variety of media.
  6. Evaluate the design, content, and narrative of student work with the elements of art, principles of design, and visual communication terminology.
