ART-2710 Art Survey II Credits 3 Survey of art and architecture from the Renaissance to the 20th century. Works of painting, sculpture, and architecture are analyzed both in terms of their style, iconography, and technique and in terms of their significance within the historical, social, religious, and economic context in which they were produced. Prerequisite(s): Reading proficiency. (Not offered summer.)
Course Outcomes
- Explain the style, iconography and technique of artworks produced from Renaissance to 20th century Postmodernism.
- Compare and contrast different periods and cultures from Renaissance to 20th Postmodernism.
- Analyze how the attributes of various media impact the content of artwork.
- Evaluate various conceptual ideas underlying diverse movements in art.
- Evaluate the influence and relevance a work of art has had in defining the historical, economic, social, and cultural period in which it was produced.
