Survey of basic scientific principles needed to understand current environmental problems and evaluate alternatives for solving those problems.
Prerequisite(s): Reading proficiency.
Course Outcomes
  1. Apply the fundamental principles of ecology to real-world situations, especially as applied to the interactions among biotic and abiotic factors in ecosystems.
  2. Describe factors that impact human population growth.
  3. Evaluate the impacts of human populations on ecosystems.
  4. Evaluate the merits of various alternatives for dealing with the impacts of human activities on ecosystems.
  5. Describe the environmental consequences of choices that citizens make as voters and consumers.
