A study of the concepts, planning considerations, management theory and operational implications for staffing, security, safety and treatment in the effective management of prisons, jails and detention facilities.
Prerequisite(s): Reading proficiency.
Course Outcomes
  1. Discuss the foundations of corrections administration in the United States.
  2. Analyze the theoretical and practical aspects of organization and leadership in correctional agencies.
  3. Evaluate the management of correctional agencies, including communications, union relations and budgets.
  4. Analyze organizational and legal issues within correctional agencies.
