PHY-1570 Technical Physics for Engineering Technology Credits 4 Concepts of energy and waves applied to sound, light, electricity, and magnetism. For transfer to Engineering Technology program only. Science general education class. Prerequisite(s): MAT-1340 completed or concurrent. 3 class/3 lab hours. (Not offered summer.)
Course Outcomes
- Explain the concepts and principles used in basic physics, sound, optics, and remote sensing.
- Interpret the precision of experimental data with significant figures and the error analysis methods used in physics.
- Apply principles of basic mechanics to solve problems in kinematics, statics, and dynamics.
- Apply the concepts of force, gravitation, momentum, and energy to physics solve problems.
- Investigate the behavior of physical systems in the lab and explain the causes of any discrepancy between the experimental behavior/results and the expected behavior/results.
- Discuss ethical principles involved with use of technology.
