TED-2951 Special Education Assessment Part II Credits 3 Fosters development of knowledge and skills in assessment, administration, interpretation, programming, and alignment of test data with teaching standards. Trends in informal assessment, vocational assessment, work sample analysis, task analysis, portfolios, and teacher made tests will be explored. This course is intended for those persons who have a bachelor’s degree and are seeking initial teacher certification and for teachers seeking recertification. Prerequisite(s): Reading proficiency, must have a bachelor’s degree, and be a student seeking certification, or recertification. Departmental permission/granted petition is required. (EDU 2240) Course Outcomes
- Demonstrate understanding of Special needs children and how disabilities are identified, diagnosed treated, and assessed educationally.
- Identify causes and symptoms of major handicapping conditions and their educational assessment implications.
- Develop an understanding of school based culture and professional expectations preschool through 12 regarding assessment.
- Apply and acquire knowledge of state and federal law as well as policies related to providing FAPE and LRE with regards to assessment.
