TRF-1330 Television Production I


Credits 3
Techniques of studio production and basic field techniques with practice in student productions.
Prerequisite(s): Reading and oral proficiencies or ESL-0106  (formerly ESL-1060) with grade of C or higher.
2 class/2 lab hours.
(Not offered summer.)

Course Outcomes
  1. Recall definitions of basic television production terminology.
  2. Execute basic camera moves and compositions.
  3. Operate a variety of microphones under various conditions.
  4. Execute proper handling of lighting equipment and use of 3-point lighting.
  5. Manipulate video switchers, character generators, intercoms and audio mixers.
  6. Produce and direct a video production including giving commands to a production crew (camera persons, recorder, technical direction, floor manager, talent, lighting, audio, etc.).
  7. Apply knowledge of production techniques to various types of television programs including interview and demonstration programs.
  8. Explain the importance of teamwork and the responsibilities of various essential members of the production team including the producer, director, crew members and talent to the overall planning and execution of the program.
