TRF-1410 Introduction to Audio Production Credits 3 Radio as a mass medium: Origins and techniques of programming, scriptwriting, announcing, studio production, and station operation. Prerequisite(s): Reading and oral proficiencies or ESL-0106 (formerly ESL-1060) with grade of C or higher. 2 class/2 lab hours. Note: (Not offered summer.) (Not offered summer.)
Course Outcomes
- Define the historical developments and future trends of the radio industry including social, economic, and political factors.
- Explain scriptwriting, announcing, studio production, station operations, programming, sales positions and the role of the producer.
- Identify the various radio formats in radio programming.
- Define the techniques used in radio production.
- Explain the elements of programming using a Hot Clock.
- Explain and demonstrate the use of an audio board utilizing its various components.
- Explain the use of music and sound effects to produce audio programs.
- Write and produce a PSA, Aircheck, and commercial.
- Produce a 30-minute show (individual project) that includes a format of talk or music or a hybrid of both, newscast, community calendar, music sweep and commercial cluster.
