THE-1100 Concert & Stage Sound Reinforcement

THE 1100 provides an introduction to the essential techniques required of a stage sound person, familiarity with stage and concert sound equipment, loading in show sound, and setting up show sound and running show sound is emphasized. Explorationsin the basic skills within this specialized area of Theatre and Entertainment Technology are undertaken to begin establishing a professional canon. Students enrolled in this course are expected to be at a novice level of competency. This course consists of a lecture component (2 hour each week) and a laboratory session (4 hours each week). Students enrolled in this course are required to attend the live theatre performance(s) listed in the syllabus outside of scheduled class time. This experience is vital to understanding and learning about the performing arts and is tied directly to significant assignments in this class. Students enrolled in this course will be required to participate in a culminating performance to demonstrate proficiency in the course outcomes. Therefore, students will be required to attend production hours outside of scheduled class time during the final exam period to attend a technical rehearsal, final dress rehearsal, and performance. The specific requirements and details regarding the live theatre performance(s) and culminating performance are outlined in the syllabus. Students should pay special attention to these requirements.
Prerequisite(s): Reading proficiency levels.
2 class/4 lab hours.
