TRF-1510 Introduction to Emerging Media


Credits 3
This course will explore newer media, like interactive gaming, social media, convergence, and new technologies.  We will survey the different delivery methods of messages from various sources as well as theories of mass media messaging as they relate to the new delivery platforms. 
Prerequisite(s): Reading and oral proficiencies or ESL-0106 (formerly ESL-1060) with a grade of C or higher.
3 class hours.
Course Outcomes
  1. Identify different delivery methods for mass mediated messages using technology.
  2. Recognize emerging media messages.
  3. Analyze interactive gaming systems in order to interpret data from group communication.
  4. Assemble a collection of tools used on various platforms for convergent message applications.
  5. Analyze any legal implications of using emerging media for business purposes.
  6. Synthesize contemporary issues in technological communication.
  7. Interpret an argument for or against frequent use of electronic messaging services for business or individuals.
