NUM-2120 Clinical Nuclear Medicine II Credits 3 This course is a directed, competency-based experience in an affiliated hospital. Clinical experience courses provide the opportunity for students to observe, practice, and perform routine diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures. Licensed and certified technologists provide critiques, guidance, and mentorship to the students. On-site lectures by board-certified physicians supplement the clinical experience. This is the second course in a sequence of five clinical education courses; students will have the opportunity to demonstrate an increased level of independence and competence when performing various skills requisite of the nuclear medicine technologist. Prerequisite(s): NUM-2510 with grade of C or higher. Corequisite(s): NUM-2510 with grade of C or higher. Course Outcomes
- Perform routine imaging procedures consistently following departmental protocol.
- Select imaging parameters for the acquisition of studies.
- Evaluate studies for artifacts or abnormalities.
- Perform all instrumentation quality control procedures within the department.
- Perform wipe tests and area surveys to rule out contamination.
- Perform venipuncture techniques per facility protocol.
- Process studies upon completion of the acquisition.
