PRF-2901 Internship

PRF 2901 provides students studying Theatre Performance, Theatre Design, Entertainment Technology, or Dance the opportunity to converge their level of competency into a real-world environment successfully. Through the cooperative educational resources at Prince George’s Community College students will be placed into an internship. This real-world application of learned skills will reinforce the established professional canon.  This course consists of a lecture component (2 hours each week) and a laboratory session (2 hours each week). Students enrolled in this course are required to attend the live theatre performance(s) listed in the syllabus outside of scheduled class time. This experience is vital to understanding and learning about the performing arts and is tied directly to significant assignments in this class. Students enrolled in this course will be required to participate in a culminating performance to demonstrate proficiency in the course outcomes. Therefore, students will be required to attend production hours outside of scheduled class time during the final exam period to attend a technical rehearsal, final dress rehearsal, and performance. The specific requirements and details regarding the live theatre performance(s) and culminating performance are outlined in the syllabus. Students should pay special attention to these requirements.
Prerequisite(s): PRF-1301   or PRF 1401 completed with grade of C or higher, or concurrent enrollment in PRF 1301 or PRF1401, or with permission of the Department of Humanities.
Course Outcomes
  1. Identify the safe and proper usage of the fundamental tools and apparatus utilized in staging Performing Arts and Entertainment Technology Events.
  2. Apply the safe usage of the fundamental tools and apparatus utilized in Performing Arts and Entertainment Technology Events.
  3. Identify the hierarchical production positions within Performing Arts and Entertainment Technology.
  4. Perform a production position within a Performing Arts and Entertainment Technology.
  5. Describe a proactive application of Performing Arts or Entertainment Technology regarding a positive social change.
