BIO-1100 Forensic Biology


Credits 4
An introduction to the principles and concepts of the biological aspects of forensic science.  An examination of the role of the laboratory in criminal investigation and human identification using forensic pathology, serology, anthropology, molecular biology, and other specializations.
Prerequisite(s): Readiness Readiness
Course Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate a general understanding of the fundamental principles of biology, especially as applied to the legal and scientific implications of criminal investigations.
  2. Use acquired knowledge of the principles of biology, chemistry, genetics, and anthropology to analyze forensic evidence.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to use critical reading and problem-solving skills to evaluate news media presentations of criminal cases.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to make and justify decisions which typify those that citizens commonly face as voters and jurors.
