BMT-2500 Introduction to Federal Contracting Credits 3 This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and principles of the federal procurement system and use of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). Topics include the background of federal contracting, careers in contracting, types of contracting, competition, federal acquisition process, small purchase procedures, bids and proposals and the award/protest process. Prerequisite(s): Reading readiness Formerly (Formerly offered as MGT-2500. Students may not receive credit for both MGT- 2500 and BMT-2500.) Course Outcomes
- Explain the procurement and acquisition function.
- Select procurement strategies, objectives, tactics, and systems.
- Explain procurement terminology used in Federal Contracting
- Differentiate between the roles and responsibilities of the contracting officer and program managers.
- Execute the methods of contracting and acquisition.
