Introduction to the materials and techniques used in the construction of commercial wood, steel, and concrete buildings. Covers sitework, structure, building exterior, finishes, mechanical systems, and electrical systems.
Course Outcomes
  1. Describe the construction and operation of each of the basic systems of a commercial building – site, structure, building exterior, finishes, mechanical, and electrical.
  2. Create a basic specification for each of the systems of a commercial building.
  3. Describe each of the systems of a commercial building using appropriate construction terminology.
  4. Create a sequence of inter-related construction processes for a commercial building for a given set of construction plans and specifications.
  5. Choose appropriate construction materials and processes for a commercial building for a given set of construction plans and specifications.
