CSM-2500 Construction Surveying


Credits 3
A course designed for construction personnel who must implement and lay out a site development plan. Lectures and hands-on field work help the student develop an understanding and use of the builder transit/level in all phases of construction.  
Prerequisite(s): MAT-1130 completed or concurrent.
Course Outcomes
  1. Use the level to transfer vertical control from a known elevation to an unknown elevation.
  2. Use the transit and the traverse to maintain horizontal control.
  3. Create and implement a system for maintaining horizontal and vertical control as a building structure rises.
  4. Determine the percentage of grade or steepness of slope.
  5. Calculate vertical and horizontal distances.
  6. Demonstrate proper use and care of surveying equipment.
  7. Determine the appropriate level of accuracy required for a given situation.
