CJT-2580 Juvenile Delinquency Credits 3 A study of the causes and trends of youth crime. The prediction, prevention, treatment and control of juvenile delinquency by social control agencies is examined relative to social policies needed to reduce its incidence. The organization and procedures of the juvenile justice system will be explored. Prerequisite(s): Reading Readiness. Course Outcomes
- Describe juvenile delinquency in relation to its volume, causes and trends.
- Explain the theoretical perspectives of juvenile delinquency.
- Analyze the societal and environmental influences on juvenile delinquency.
- Evaluate the juvenile court system and its handling of cases, as well as other methods of treatment of children and adolescents.
