ENT-1680 Revit Architecture and BIM

This course provides an introduction to the concepts of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the tools for parametric building design and documentation. Students create integrated architectural project models and document their designs with linked two-dimensional drawings using Autodesk’s Revit Architecture. (May also be taken as a continuing education course, CST-440 Revit Architecture and BIM).
Prerequisite(s): Reading readiness
2 class/2 lab hours.
Course Outcomes
 

  1. Use parametric relationships and families to create architectural projects in Revit Architecture.
  2. Use model planning tools such as levels and grids.
  3. Create a basic building envelope with walls, openings, floors, roofs, and circulation.
  4. Create properly dimensioned and constrained floor plans, elevations, sections, and 3-dimensional views.
  5. Create callout views, detail views, and drafting views.
  6. Create schedules, rooms, and room schedules, using legends and keynotes.
  7. Create standard construction drawings by exporting the different Revit views into a traditional CAD format.
  8. Present the building model using rendering, walkthroughs, and sun and shadow settings.
