EGL-2160 Advanced Creative Writing Credits 3 An intensive, genre-specific workshop which aims to further the philosophies, issues, and possibilities of craft explored in its predecessor, English 2150. This course will encourage the serious creative writing student to pursue more sophisticated and complex expression in a selected genre (poetry, fiction, or drama). Although the course will contain reading and analysis of contemporary authors, the focus will be on the creation of original work with constructive feedback from peers considered during the revision process. Prerequisite(s): EGL-1020, or EGL-1100, or EGL-1320, or EGL-1340; and EGL-2150, or permission of instructor. Course Outcomes
- Write longer, more developed work in at least one creative-writing genre.
- Apply advanced stylistic elements of creative writing appropriate to that specific genre.
- Edit and revise original work.
- Read and respond critically in both oral and written form to other peers’ work.
