EGL-2210 The Shakespeare Plays Credits 3 Introduction to the drama of Shakespeare using text and videos. Prerequisite(s): EGL-1020, EGL-1100, EGL-1320, or EGL-1340. Course Outcomes
- Identify major and minor characters and the differences in their speech, and analyze the ways in which language contributes to the meaning of the play.
- Describe the various groups of characters and their interactions, and analyze how the social structure affects the meaning of the play.
- Identify the settings of action and explain their significance.
- Identify and analyze the stages of plot and the sequence of events, and suggest a reason for the order.
- Write analytical essays that formulate and critique possible interpretations of scenes, characters, or themes using the support of textual evidence and appropriately documented secondary sources.
