EGL-2250 Literature for Young Adults Credits 3 Study of themes in literature marketed to adolescents (12-18) with focus on social and historical context. Prerequisite(s): EGL-1020, EGL-1100, EGL-1320, or EGL-1340. Course Outcomes
- Identify and analyze recurring themes relevant to adolescent literature across a variety of genres.
- Explain the formation and definition of the category “Young Adult” in its social, historical, political, and/or economic context.
- Analyze the representation of identity in adolescent literature, especially in relationship to diverse populations.
- Write analytically about aspects of books for adolescents (including genre, style, and content) with appropriate documentation.
