EGL-2390 Studies in Biblical Literature: The New Testament Credits 3 Analysis of the Bible as literature, emphasizing major ideas, characters, themes, and literary techniques of the New Testament. Prerequisite(s): EGL-1010 and EGL-1020, EGL-1100, EGL-1320, or EGL-1340. Course Outcomes
- Analyze the relationship of the New Testament to the Old Testament.
- Identify the origins and analyze the merits of translations of the New Testament into English.
- Analyze major ideas and themes developed in the New Testament and their application to world civilization.
- Identify and analyze the effect of the use of various types of literature and literary techniques in the New Testament.
- Analyze Jewish resistance as Christianity developed a major gentile following, and identify the roles of the major players in this development.
- Write short papers and an analytical essay on New Testament topics, all of which must have documented sources.
