FOS-2550 Forensic Photography Credits 3 This course explores the skills needed for the forensic photography of evidence associated with various crime scenes. Students will learn how to operate a digital camera, as well as the fundamentals of proper lighting, storage, enhancement of images, and courtroom presentation. Students will further learn how to apply these skills toward photographing impression, trace, biological, and vehicle evidence, how panoramic scanning is used to document crime scenes, and how imaging software is used to enhance digital images. Prerequisite(s): FOS-2500 Course Outcomes
- Discuss the methodology for photographing crime scenes, victims and other evidence.
- Properly capture crime scene photographs as digital images using a digital camera.
- Enhance digital images using ISO standards for courtroom presentations.
- Analyze legal issues related to forensic photography and digital imaging, and the preparation and procedures for testifying in court as an expert witness.
