HLE-2000 Applications of Concepts for Fitness and Wellness Credits 3 Includes the study and practical application of principles for optimizing wellness, including health, fitness, nutrition, weight control, and stress management. Individual fitness, nutrition, and wellness will be evaluated and implemented through the use of labs, self-assessment tools, weight training, and cardiorespiratory activities.
Course Outcomes
- Identify the components of physical fitness.
- Examine the dimensions of wellness.
- Compare and contrast the benefits of cardiorespiratory endurance and the ways it is measured/assessed.
- Define the principles of weight training.
- List the characteristics of a safe and effective exercise program.
- Apply the FITT principles of physical fitness to strength training and cardiorespiratory training.
