INT-2081 Introduction to Oracle Credits 3 This course introduces students to the fundamentals of SQL using Oracle database technology. It covers the concepts of relational databases, with hands-on experience writing queries against single or multiple tables, updating data in tables, and creating database objects. The course introduces the students to the powerful SQL language and it uses SQL to teach hands-on concepts in Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML). The course will prepare the students for the Oracle Database 12c: SQL Fundamentals Exam, 1Z0-061. The SQL Fundamentals exam is just step one to earning the Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Associate Certification. Taking this course is not a guarantee that the student will pass the exam. Although this course provides the necessary breadth of information that is covered on the exam, students are still expected to study and practice the concepts taught in order to solidify their skills and build the confidence necessary to approach the exam. 2 lecture/2 lab. - Describe the basic architecture of the Oracle system.
- Explain the major tasks of database design.
- Compare and contrast the relational database model vs. the object-oriented model.
- Develop a database to the 3rd normal form.
- Create database tables/views using Data Definition Language (DDL).
- Formulate database constraints.
- Develop database records using Data Manipulation Language (DML).
- Create SQL queries and scripts.
- Construct nested queries.
- Implement the Data Control Language (DCL).
