THE-2603 Audio and Media Technology Credits 3 THE 2603 introduces the foundations of both current and emerging audio and media tools, apparatus and concepts. Explorations include microphones, media recording and playback devices, components of a sound systems for a live event, and sound desk operation during live productions and performances. Surveys of audio and electrical paths as well as acoustic and electrical sound reproduction and theory occur. This course consists of a lecture component (2 hours each week) and a laboratory session (2 hours each week). Prerequisite(s): THE-1301 or THE-1401 completed with a C or higher, or concurrent enrollment in THE-1301 or THE-1401 , or with permission of the Department of Humanities. Course Outcomes

- Use the tools and apparatus in audio and media technology safely.
- Execute audio and media technology in a theatre or entertainment technology setting.
- Explain basic electrical, sound and acoustic theory.
