THE-2502 Movement for Actors


Credits 3
THE 2502 introduces the essential movement techniques required of actors through a focused study of movement methodologies for the successful execution of performance. Students explore well-established methodologies, such as Alexander and Grotowski, as well as emerging methodologies, such as Viewpoints. Emphasis is on developing skills to perform in a collaborative ensemble as well as a solo performance. 
Prerequisite(s): THE-1501 completed with a C or higher, or concurrent enrollment in THE-1501 , or with permission of the Department of Humanities
Course Outcomes
 

  1. Explain the need for movement methods for the actor.
  2. Compare and contrast movement techniques through the twentieth/twenty-first century.
  3. Discuss the major players in movement methods for actors.
  4. Perform collaborative ensemble movement piece for the stage.
  5. Perform solo movement piece for the stage.
