MUS-1570 Recording Technology II Credits 3 This course is a continuation of MUS - 1560. Students deepen their knowledge and skills related to microphone design and placement techniques, consoles and stereo recording principles, signal flow, gain staging, and patch bays. Additionally, students operate a multitrack recording, outboard gear, and monitoring and mixing systems. Students continue to practice studio safety procedures. Students conduct increasingly complex hands-on recording sessions of various musical instruments, ensembles and genres. Students are engaged in more independent work with more technical responsibility included in their projects. Prerequisite(s): MUS-1560 Recording Technology I with a grade of C or higher Course Outcomes
- Setup a microphone, cable and position for an artist.
- Explain procedures of recording studio hardware and software
- Demonstrate proper studio and control room safety procedures.
- Execute proper studio set up for various size ensembles.
- Execute proper recording session management skills.
- Analyze the sound quality of recorded subjects.
