ART-2700 Art Survey I Credits 3 A survey of art and architecture from prehistoric times through Gothic art. Works of painting, sculpture, and architecture are analyzed both in terms of their style, iconography, and technique and in terms of their significance within the historical, social, religious, and economic context in which they were produced. Prerequisite(s): Reading readiness Course Outcomes
- Explain the style, iconography, and technique of artworks produced from Prehistory through Late Gothic.
- Compare and contrast different periods and cultures from Prehistory through Gothic Art.
- Analyze how the attributes of various media impact the content of artwork.
- Evaluate various conceptual ideas underlying diverse movements in art.
- Evaluate the influence and relevance a work of art has had in defining the historical, economic, social, and cultural period in which it was produced
