HLE-2010 Health Issues in a Culturally Diverse Society Credits 3 Provides health information related to issues and problems affecting ethnic minorities in the United States (African American, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, and Native Americans). Focus areas will include traditional health care, disparities in treatment, barriers in health care, culture and nutrition, leading causes of death, healing and religion, and current health problems. Course Outcomes
- Analyze the importance of a multicultural perspective overview of health.
- List the barriers in the traditional health care system.
- Evaluate the leading causes of death and health problems for ethnic minorities.
- Examine disparities in treatment for ethnic minorities.
- Compare and contrast traditional cultural elements related to nutrition, healing, and spirituality.
