MAT-0113C Principles for Mathematical Ideas Credits 2 Equivalent Hours 2 This is a co-requisite course designed to support students enrolled in MAT-1130 Mathematical Ideas. Students develop prerequisite skills and enhance quantitative literacy needed for success in MAT-1130, including organizing data, interpreting graphical displays, evaluating mathematical expressions, and exploring language associated with logic. Students enrolled in MAT 0113C must enroll in a linked section of MAT 1130 concurrently. Principles for Mathematical Ideas does not satisfy General Education Mathematics requirement. Prerequisite(s): DLS-0061 completed with grade A/B (first attempt), or MAT-0071 completed with grade of D, or Math Readiness and Reading Readiness Corequisite(s): MAT-1130 Mathematical Ideas Course Outcomes
- Identify principles of data organization in preparation for the study of set theory and voting methods.
- Interpret graphs and charts in preparation of study of probability and statistics.
- Evaluate mathematical expressions in preparation for study of personal finance, probability, and statistics.
- Examine terminology used in formal logic.
