BLD-2240 NCCER Plumbing Level 4

This course provides the fourth and final level of training of the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) plumbing curriculum. They acquire the skills and knowledge needed to design indirect waste systems, private water supply and waste systems, hydronic and solar waste systems, and plumbing for mobile homes and trailer parks. They learn how to install pressure-boosting systems and medical gas and vacuum systems. Additionally, they learn the communication and problem-solving skills fundamental to crew leadership in the plumbing trade. Successful completion of the course earns students the NCCER Plumbing Level 4 credential. This course is currently not cross-listed with Continuing Education.

Course Outcomes
 

  1. Explain the fundamental communication and problem-solving skills required for plumbing crew leadership on a job site.
  2. Interpret construction drawings and specifications for plumbing equipment and material takeoff.
  3. Assemble plumbing components into systems that boost water pressure and provide hot water.
  4. Design an indirect waste system.
  5. Design hydronic and solar waste systems.
  6. Interpret plumbing codes such as ICC, IAPMO and regional codes for use in plumbing design. 
  7. Diagram private water supply and waste disposal systems.
  8. Design plumbing installations for pools, spas and hot tubs.
  9. Design water supply and waste disposal systems for mobile homes and trailer parks.
  10. Demonstrate the use, installation, testing and servicing of medical gas and vacuum systems.
