EMT-1100 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Clinical
Credits 4 Provides the Emergency Medical Technician student with an opportunity to integrate and apply knowledge and skills introduced in EMT-1000 . Precepted patient care experiences are facilitated through ride-alongs on basic ambulances in the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department, a field clinical affiliate of the program.
Prerequisite(s): Minimum age of 18.
Corequisite(s): EMT-1000 .
Course Outcomes
- Identify elements of general anatomy and physiology, and apply medical terminology, as they relate to patient assessment.
- Integrate components of emergency scene information to guide patient assessment.
- Appropriately apply the operational roles and responsibilities of the EMT to ensure patient, public and personnel safety.
- Successfully demonstrate to include explanation of indications for application of the following: appropriate hemorrhage control techniques, appropriate crisis intervention, appropriate emergency care for infants and children, and appropriate management of suspected fractures.
- Appropriately document patient assessment, as it relates to the application of clinical skills.
