HIM-2560 Health Information Practicum II 1 Credit Supervised student practice in simulated laboratory and clinical practice settings; emphasis on inpatient and ambulatory coding with ICD 10- CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT coding systems using encoder and grouper software, data abstracting, and data retrieval from indices. Prerequisite(s): HIM-1600 with grade of C or higher. (Formerly Directed Clinical Practice II) 12 clinical hours. NOTE: *Courses in the HIM program must be taken in a prescribed sequence. HIM courses are offered once per year in the fall or spring except for HIM-1530 which is offered every semester. A grade of C or higher must be maintained in all core program and required science courses. Program prerequisites require a C or higher. (Offered fall only.)
