NUR-2031 Psychosocial Integrity Credits 3 Psychosocial Integrity emphasizes three levels of prevention and early detection of health problems related to psychosocial adaptation throughout the life span, following the guidelines of the NCLEX Test Plan. Theory and practice include mental health concepts; therapeutic communication and environment; crisis intervention; coping mechanisms; behavioral and cognitive interventions; cultural diversity and spiritual influences on health; sensory/perceptual alterations; chemical and other dependencies; family dynamics; psychopathology; safe, ethical practice; developmental stages and transitions; and pharmacologic therapies. The course emphasizes concepts of recovery and wellness. Prerequisite(s): NUR-2010 , NUR-2020 . Corequisite(s): NUR-2032 , NUR-2040 . 1.5 class/5 clinical (for 9 weeks)/1.5 lab hours. - Evaluate benefits of rehabilitation as a tertiary prevention strategy for the nursing care of patients with chronic disorders and diseases.
- Analyze the effects of chronic neurologic and neuromuscular disorders on patients and families.
- Evaluate nursing management of patients with chronic kidney disease and cirrhosis of the liver.
- Formulate appropriate nursing care plan for patients with endocrine disorders.
- Establish priorities of care for patients with connective tissue disorders.
- Implement appropriate nursing care to support the cancer patient during diagnosis and treatment.
