NUR-2040 Management of Care and Professional Issues


Credits 3
The focus of this course will be on providing integrated, cost-effective care to clients through coordination, supervision, and collaboration with other members of the health care team. Students will analyze, synthesize, and evaluate care for groups of patients in a variety of health care settings. Professional practice issues will be applied to health care situations and NCLEX-RN readiness, the role of the nurse, and transition into the workforce.
Prerequisite(s): NUR-2010 , NUR-2020 .
Corequisite(s):  NUR-2031 , NUR-2032 .

Course Outcomes
  1. Examine nursing activities within an environment that reflects ethical and legal standards of practice.
  2. Evaluate the impact of nursing theory on the profession of nursing and on nursing research. 
  3. Apply leadership and management theory concepts to nursing practice.
  4. Evaluate principles of delegation and supervision in professional nursing practice to ensure safe patient care.
  5. Design strategies to ease the transition from student nurse to professional nurse.
  6. Evaluate uses, limitations, benefits, and precautions associated with complementary and alternative therapies and supplements.
  7. Use APA format in a research paper analyzing a current professional nursing issue.
