TRF-2340 Digital Video Editing Credits 3 An Introduction to the theory and practice of post-production techniques and aesthetics, while exploring key terms, functions, and concepts of non-linear editing. Students will learn the equipment and processes used to manipulate video and audio using professional nonlinear editing software. Prerequisite(s): TRF-1330 with grade of C or higher. 2 class/3 lab hours. Note: (Not offered summer.) (Not offered summer.)
Course Outcomes
- Develop skills in all phases of non-linear editing using industry-standard editing equipment and software.
- Comprehend common editing terms and vocabulary.
- Translate script and/or storyboard to the editing process in order to cultivate personal expression through video storytelling.
- Demonstrate digitizing video capture, importing supporting audio and visual elements, and organizing raw footage.
- Edit dialogue and audio content for continuity.
- Perform insert and overwrite edits, trim edit points, use the ripple, roll, slip, slide and extend tools to adjust edit points.
- Apply transitions between video and audio elements; add narration, sound effects, music, still images, titles, graphics and VFX (visual) effects.
- Output completed video to DVD, digital formats (Flash, QuickTime, MP4), or web distribution.
