PRF-1001 Ballet 01 Introductory Fundamentals

PRF 1001 provides an introduction to the essential techniques required of ballet. Students enrolled in this course are expected to be at an inexperienced level of competency. This course consists of a lecture component (1 hour each week) and a laboratory session (2 hours each week). More experienced students may substitute PRF-2002 or PRF-2202 for PRF 1001 or PRF-1002 with permission of the Department of Humanities. Students may receive credit for either PRF 1001 or PRF 1002 towards the completion of their program. Students enrolled in this course are required to attend the live theatre performance(s) listed in the syllabus outside of scheduled class time. This experience is vital to understanding and learning about the performing arts and is tied directly to significant assignments in this class. Students enrolled in this course will be required to participate in a culminating performance to demonstrate proficiency in the course outcomes. Therefore, students will be required to attend production hours outside of scheduled class time during the final exam period to attend a technical rehearsal, final dress rehearsal, and performance. The specific requirements and details regarding the live theatre performance(s) and culminating performance are outlined in the syllabus. Students should pay special attention to these requirements.
Prerequisite(s): Reading proficiency levels.
