PRF-2024 American Dance Forms: Intermediate

PRF 2024 provides a strengthening of the aesthetics of modern dance methods through the study of American dance methods through examination and application of dances representing jazz, tap, and hip-hop. Students enrolled in this course are expected to be at an intermediate level of competency. This course consists of a lecture component (1 hour each week) and a laboratory session (2 hours each week) Students may receive credit for either PRF-2023 or PRF 2024 towards the completion of their program. Students enrolled in this course are required to attend the live theatre performance(s) listed in the syllabus outside of scheduled class time. This experience is vital to understanding and learning about the performing arts and is tied directly to significant assignments in this class. Students enrolled in this course will be required to participate in a culminating performance to demonstrate proficiency in the course outcomes. Therefore, students will be required to attend production hours outside of scheduled class time during the final exam period to attend a technical rehearsal, final dress rehearsal, and performance. The specific requirements and details regarding the live theatre performance(s) and culminating performance are outlined in the syllabus. Students should pay special attention to these requirements.
Prerequisite(s): PRF-2020 or PRF-2021 completed with grade of C or higher. Concurrent enrollment in PRF-2020 or PRF-2021 or permission of the Department of Humanities.
