MUS-1420 Digital Audio Workstation DAW (Pro Tools)

This course will expose the student to the processes of recording and editing digital audio, MIDI data, plugin instruments, mixing in the box and exporting to a permanent recording destination.
Prerequisite(s): MUS-1000 , and MUS-1500  with a grade of “C”  or higher.
Corequisite(s): MUS-1440 .
Course Outcomes
  1. Set up a new project template with appropriate tracks and routing in a DAW
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of signal flow within the software and routing alternatives
  3. Demonstrate the application of the different file types and their uses and functions in a DAW
  4. Demonstrate the appropriate use plug-in effects and instruments with proper system management in a DAW
  5. Demonstrate keyboard short cuts to streamline work flow
  6. Demonstrate proper hard drive and file storage management
