PRJ-1210 Public Relations Techniques Credits 3 This course is an introduction to the practices and principles of public relations. It focuses on the foundational elements of public relation practitioners’ research, planning, implementation, and evaluation cycle. Students examine the different modalities required to communicate with internal and external audiences. Explorations in writing and constructing collateral occur. The ethical standards of public relations are considered. Additionally, an appreciation of the media’s role in effectively communicating with diverse publics occurs within the course. Prerequisite(s): Reading Readiness or ESL-0106 (formerly ESL-1060) with a grade of C or higher. Formerly Formerly offered as SPH-1210. Students may not receive credit for both SPH-1210 and PRJ-1210. 2 class/2 lab hours. Course Outcomes 1. Relate the practices and principles of public relations

3. Prepare a speaker for an interview, speech, or press conference
4. Create a basic public relations plan utilizing the research, planning, implementation, and evaluation cycle
