MUS-1530 Pro Tools Fundamentals 101 & 110

This course combines the 2-part training of the Avid’s Pro Tools Digital Audio Workstation. Students learn the processes of recording and editing digital audio, MIDI data, plugin instruments, mixing in the box and exporting to a permanent recording destination are some of the items students learn in the course. File and hard drive management is also emphasized. The material covered in the course comes directly from Avid’s Pro Tools 101 & 110 users manuals. PGCC is a certified Avid Learning Partner and as part of this course, students have the opportunity to take the Avid exams to become Certified Pro Tools Users. Completion of the Avid Certification exams is not required to receive credit for this course.
Prerequisite(s): MUS-1500  with a grade of C or higher
Course Outcomes
  1. Establish a new session in Pro Tools using proper parameters.
  2. Demonstrate the signal flow within the Pro Tools and routing alternatives/hardware.
  3. Apply appropriate procedures to various file types in Pro Tools
  4. Use plug-in effects and instruments with proper system management in Pro Tools.
  5. Use appropriate keyboard shortcuts to streamline workflow without using a mouse.
  6. Demonstrate proper hard drive and file storage management for Pro Tools files.
