Credits 3
Study of chemical equilibrium relative to gases, heterogeneous systems, weak electrolytes including acids and bases, solubility product studies, kinetics, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and nuclear chemistry.

Prerequisite(s): CHM-1010 completion with grade C or higher.

Course Outcomes
  1. Analyze scientific data for physical and chemical systems with tools such as graphing calculators and spreadsheet programs.
  2. Formulate rate laws for chemical reactions from experimental data.
  3. Interpret the nature of equilibrium systems from experimental data and graphical analysis.
  4. Analyze thermodynamic variables in physical and chemical systems.
  5. Characterize the nature of electrochemical reactions.
  6. Solve problems involving the relationships among the equilibrium constant, free energy, and the electrode potential for chemical systems.
  7. Compute decay rates of radioactive elements.
