CSM-1830 Construction Blueprint Reading
Credits 3 Covers reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications of residential and light commercial buildings. Emphasis is on the architectural, mechanical, and site aspects of working drawings.
Course Outcomes
- Use drawing symbols and notations to identify the building materials or components they represent – structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and finishes.
- Use drawing scale information and an architect’s or engineer’s scale to determine building dimensions.
- Apply the principles of orthographic projection to drawing 2-D and 3-D views of objects and buildings.
- Use information on drawings to calculate quantities (areas and volumes) of construction materials.
- Identify utility services, topographical lines, parking, curb and gutter locations, building grades and elevations, and landscape features on a given site plan.
- Determine dimensional information from drawings; including but not limited to buildings, rooms, windows, and doors.
