ESL-0100 English as a Second Language: Elementary II

Credits 3
Equivalent Hours 4
ESL 0100 is the first writing course in the English for Academic Purposes reading/writing series. It is for non-native English speakers whose academic reading ability is limited. In this course, students develop basic grammar skills required for successful writing in content courses by producing the four basic sentence structures in English using simple tenses in the past, present, and future.

A second focus of this course is for students to develop coherence in writing by incorporating superlatives and modal verb forms into their original writing.  Additionally, students will begin to use the writing process by editing sentence level errors in target grammar and mechanics.

A grade of C or higher is required to successfully complete this course.
