FOS-2510 Forensic Aspects of Death Investigation
Credits 3 A study of the medico-legal examination of death scenes by the medical examiner and other death investigators. Emphasis is on autopsy procedures, post-mortem changes, unidentified remains, injuries and investigative techniques.
Prerequisite(s): FOS-2500
Course Outcomes
- Discuss the roles and responsibilities of the personnel involved in death investigations.
- Analyze the death scene protocol and the differences between the coroner and medical examiner death investigation systems.
- Analyze the various causes, manners and mechanisms of death.
- Evaluate the various types of trauma and disease that cause death.
