FRN-2020 Intermediate French II

FRN 2020, a continuation of FRN 2010, focuses on the civilizations and cultures of France and the French-speaking world. Students review French grammar including indicative and subjunctive forms of the present, past, future, conditional, and perfect tenses. Students read literature in French in order to analyze and discuss it critically while examining connections that exist within the diversity of the French-speaking world. Students examine various examples of culture and civilization in the French-speaking world and reflect on the similarities and differences to their own culture.
Gen Ed: Arts and Humanities
Prerequisite(s): FRN-2010 or four years of high school French or equivalent
Course Outcomes
 

  1. Communicate in spoken French about specific topics with length and depth appropriate for the intermediate level
  2. Listen to spoken intermediate French about specific topics, focused on the viewpoints from francophone cultures
  3. Read intermediate French texts focused on aspects of francophone culture for comprehension
  4. Write a topical paragraph consisting of sentences with intermediate level sentence structure and grammar.
  5. Analyze culture and civilization in the francophone world.
