HLE-2130 First Aid Responding to Emergencies/CPR Credits 3 This course will teach students how to recognize and respond appropriately to various emergencies. Students will learn how perform First-Aid and CPR/AED skills for the lay responder. After successful completion of the course, students may apply for the American Red Cross certifications in Pediatric and Adult First Aid and CPR/AED for the Lay Responder. Course Outcomes
- Recognize a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants.
- Successfully perform first-aid skills required for certification based on the current standards of the American Red Cross.
- Successfully perform CPR skills, including AED operation, required for certification based on the current standards of the American Red Cross.
- Plan for responding to an emergency (addressing the issue(s), the emergency preparedness plan, and the first aid kit).
