HLE-2130 First Aid Responding to Emergencies/CPR


Credits 3
This course will teach students how to recognize and respond appropriately to various emergencies. Students will learn how perform First-Aid and CPR/AED skills for the lay responder. After successful completion of the course, students may apply for the American Red Cross certifications in Pediatric and Adult First Aid and CPR/AED for the Lay Responder.
Course Outcomes
  1. Recognize a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants.
  2. Successfully perform first-aid skills required for certification based on the current standards of the American Red Cross.          
  3. Successfully perform CPR skills, including AED operation, required for certification based on the current standards of the American Red Cross.
  4. Plan for responding to an emergency (addressing the issue(s), the emergency preparedness plan, and the first aid kit).
